Coach Bob Norton
"Dont Be Afraid to be Good"
You were truly a miracle, you will forever be a hero!
Coach Bob Norton passed away in February of 2010 after a seventeen year battle with cancer. He was a person who truly valued life, this was evident with his ability to fight and survive with cancer for seventeen years despite doctors diagnosing him to only live for six months. Coach Norton was a elected into the Don Bosco High School hall of fame for four sports (basketball, baseball, football, and track). He coached basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball for more than fifty years and he instilled his passion for both life and the game within all of the players who were fortunate enough to have him as a coach. He had an amazing ability to bring out the best in all of his players by finding a way to always put them in the place they were most likely to succeed. He was a great member of the Ducks program and had a positive impact on many players lives, on and off the basketball court. Coach Norton played a major role in establishing and maintaining the Ducks program and his efforts will never be forgotten. His favorite quote was "Don't be afraid to be good" and he was able to implant this outlook within all of his players. He believed the key to success was never being afraid to try something new or make the play at the end of the game but rather to enjoy and look forward to that moment. He will always remain a member of the Ducks program in our hearts and in our actions. Thank you for everything Coach Norton.
